THE TRUE STORY OF HOW THE HOLY BIBLE FELL FROM HEAVEN AND LANDED ON ISOKO LAND IN 1914.
It all started in the year August, 1914. There was a woman called Ufowakie Esievo who hailed from Araya community. She went to farm to harvest yam during floor season. She built a wooden cassava stem platform and laid yams on top. A day interval, she went back and saw a mystical book. Behold, it was a bible widely open on top of the yams and with a letter. Surprisingly, on that faithful day, it rained heavily and no single drop of rain was on the bible. As God may have it, the woman was led courageously to carry the bible and the letter along with the yams. Hurriedly, she took to the first man (prophet) who brought Christianity to the land in 1911, may while Prophet Isara Ewobor had afore time announced to the community of an unusual miracle and a blessing that God was going to release upon and had prepared their mind towards that expectation. The pressure on him from the community to interpret what was written in the bible and the letter was too high and He suggested that the book should be kept for the next generation since nobody was educated to read in the land at that time, but his idea was ignored. The prophet only preach by inspiration and revelation from God without official education and as at that time, there was no standard education.
An emergency meeting was held on that regard in the centre of the community called ‘Otiye’ in Araya community former bender state in Isoko south LGA Delta state. At the course of thinking of what to do, they suggested the book should be taken to some white men from British colony who came to Africa to bring Christianity and to eradicate paganism, idolatry, and to help the people to know the true God. These white men were under a group called C.M.S meaning Christian missionary society and they dominated the whole Africa. There were two white men in Isoko land then, one was residing in Oleh named Rev JD Aitkin and the other one in Patani named Rev Henry proctor. Aitkin was a superintended of isoko missionary district. They delegated people to take the book to Oleh and the group was led by Isara Ewobor. On getting there, they discovered that Aitkin had gone for leave in Britain. There was another alternative to take the book to Rev Henry Proctor who resided in Patani. At that time the only way to Patani was through the Aya creek river. When they got there, Rev Henry proctor was staying behind the river bank in a wooden storey building. And he was having a body guard of fire hand of gun powder as at that time. When Rev Henry proctor saw the book, he was terrified and deceptively ask them to go back, “I will go through the book”he said, and i will get back to you in two weeks time to give you the full meaning of what is written in the book. Because of the high level of regard the black have towards white people, they left without a second thought.
On their way journeying back to Araya prophet Isara Ewobor being troubled in the spirit said, if we now go back after two weeks and the white man is nowhere to be found, what shall we do? They concluded the best to do is to go back and take back the book. When they got back as about to climb, the white man ordered his body guard to push them down the water. And this men having nothing to fight with , they became helpless. And the white man greedily said unto them, didn’t I told you to come back in two weeks time? They helplessly left reason because the black people see the white people as demigod’s as at that time. After two weeks had relapsed, they paddle back to Patani again, reaching there, the white man has made away with the bible that fell from Heaven and had journey back to England by sea.
The people of Araya got information that Rev Aitkin has returned back from England and they quickly went to inquire the where about of Rev. Henry Proctor. Shockingly, they were disappointed when Rev Aitkin told them that he was very sorry that Rev. Henry proctor died on his way back to England. The people of Araya exclaimed with tears in their eyes, “what about our blessed book that fell from Heaven that was giving to him to interpret.”? Rev Aitkin jump up and shouted, “I said it! there is something about that book! so that mystical book belongs to you, he said astonishing “. He further explained, that many white men were onboard the ship but unfortunately, Henry proctor was the only victim. And the rest white men took the book to England. And all hope and interest of the people of Araya was lost and dash to the dust as the shocking news breaks their strength and passion.
There was a great man born in that same season that bible fell from Heaven named Evangelist Cornelius Adam Igbudu. In those days, he would visit the forest where the bible fell on and prayed. God wrought so many miracle in his hands. He was not honor and reverenced by the people but later after his death everyone came to realised he was a sign following the fall of the bible. I could remember the day of his departure, the heaven opened and there were sounds of music and voices of angels singing hosanna live in Araya. On the day of his burial, some unknown personalities were on white robes, some identified to be great men of God who had long pass away.
After some years God visited Apostle Lawson Odeh that a chapel should be built on the spot the bible fell on, that His presence is still in the place despite that the bible has been stolen. God went further to reveal the exact spot to Lawson Odeh that small trees are surrounding the circumference. Late Jesse Osima of blessed memory volunteered to build the place. He built a chapel and a monument and furnished it.
